An exhibition by liactuallee at Platform, Vaasa, concluding their residency in Finland.

The exhibition is an expansion of the artist’s ideas around Forestpunk, an invitation into the imaginative possibilities of the woodland and a stance against a world centred on productivity. Forestpunk is not about escaping society, but about creating ways of being within it that allow for a different relationship to attention, labour, and time.

The textile installation brings together knitting, crochet, felting, and nålbindning, using locally sourced wool. The repetitive act of stitching echoes the calming effect that time spent in nature can have on the nervous system.

The works bring the fantastical alongside the physical realities of woodland ecosystems as living systems of growth, decay, labour, and interdependence. Developed during liactuallee’s residency at Platform, the exhibition draws on Finnish landscapes, literature, and the small creatures of the forest floor.
